Overview
Baker Tilly has served tribes for more than 40 years, providing assurance, tax, and consulting services to over 330 unique tribal clients representing more than 130 tribes. Our growing Tribal Consulting Services practice delivers superior client service through strong relationships and high value deliverables. The staff role will provide outstanding service to our tribal clients by delivering a variety of ongoing accounting services and grant management functions.
Responsibilities- Provides operational, accounting, and consulting services for Tribal governments, that include monthly closing, grants management, grant reporting, and financial reporting
- Prepares and records journal entries
- Develops policies and procedures on key accounting matters
- Performs project start up activities, such as following project work plans, adhering to schedules, and attending kickoff meetings
- Reviews the work of self for accuracy
- Serves as an integral member of our Business Consulting Services team
- Occasionally travels to client locations, firm trainings, or industry conferences
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; emphasis in Accounting or related field preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of related experience, not for profit and/or governmental experience preferred
- Experience in one or more of the following preferred: grants management, financial accounting including account reconciliation, governmental accounting standards implementation, and/or accounts payable processing
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including proven commitment to providing exceptional client service via multiple communication methods (email, phone, chat, helpdesk ticket system, etc.)
- Ability to understand problems, think critically and identify creative solutions
- Effective time management and organizational skills, proven ability to prioritize while simultaneously managing numerous projects/processes often under tight deadlines
- Works independently to prioritize work, establish goals and produce quality work
- Self‑directed professional with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively across functions/departments/teams while building trusted relationships
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and one or more government accounting/grant management software systems
- Ability to travel as needed, approximately 10‑15%
In Oklahoma: pay rate range is $62,000 to $95,610
In Seattle, WA: pay rate range is $79,800 to $114,730
In Utah: pay rate range is $62,000 to $95,610
