Most audit jobs sell you on “variety.” This one sells you on purpose.
95% of the clients are nonprofits: schools, women’s shelters, cancer wellness organizations, local charities. Real organizations doing real good, where your work actually means something beyond a neat file of numbers.
And here’s the bonus: you don’t have to give up career growth to get that meaning.
This small CPA firm is at a turning point. Partners are beginning to think about succession. Managers are stepping up. If you want to build a long term path and genuinely progress, the opportunity is there
Small firm does not mean small in the ways that matter, either.
A lot of the team joined from larger firms and brought the structure, process, and efficiencies with them. So you get the feel of a smaller, more personal firm, without the chaos or lack of development that can sometimes come with it. It is a pretty good balance.
What you’ll find here:
- Flexibility and trust to work remotely, with most of the team doing exactly that
- A client base that keeps the work varied and hands on, with organizations up to $25M in revenue
- Busy season around 50 to 55 hours, with fall deadlines closer to 45
- A team that genuinely values kindness, trust, and doing the right thing
- Clear progression for people who want to grow into Senior, Supervisor, and eventually Manager level
The firm are based in the northern suburbs of Illinois so they are looking for individuals in state or bordering areas for the adhoc training, onboarding onsite.
Coming in at this level, you'll need some experience with nonprofit audits at least.
This is very much a role for someone who wants to progress. You will either already have your CPA or be actively working towards it if stepping into a Manager level role in the future is important to you.
If you’ve got 4+ years of external audit experience and want a role where purpose, flexibility, and progression genuinely line up, this could be worth a conversation.
Interested? Not ready with a resume? Or want a bit more information before applying? No problem. You can still apply and ask Imogen. She’ll be happy to tell you more about the firm, the job and the prospects before you commit further.
