The School Grant and Communications Coordinator is a full time position and responsible for managing member district federal grants; identifying potential competitive grants; and leading the SAU's internal and external communication efforts. This role helps support the schools by strengthening financial sustainability through grants and ensuring clear, consistent, and engaging communication with staff, families, partners, and the broader communities.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and maintain reporting for necessary federal grants
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accordance with district policies and state/federal regulations.
- Monitor budget lines and expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
- Assist with year-end closing procedures
- Maintain grant payroll records, deductions, and benefit tracking.
- Research and identify competitive grant opportunities aligned with school priorities and initiatives.
- Collaborate with school leadership, teachers, other grant coordinators, and program staff to develop competitive grant proposals.
- Write, edit, and submit grant applications, narratives, budgets, and required attachments as needed.
- Track grant deadlines, requirements, time and effort logs, and reporting schedules.
- Ensure compliance with grant terms and conditions, including data collection and documentation.
- Prepare and submit timely grant reports in coordination with the business office.
- Maintain accurate grant records and files for audits and reviews.
- Assist with SAU-wide policy and procedure alignment for grant management
- Other duties as assigned by the superintendent or business administrator
- Develop and implement a communications plan aligned with each school's vision/ mission
- Create and manage content for website updates, social media, press releases, marketing materials, and information for Principal newsletters
- Support SAU and School website management and updated organization of those websites
- Support large-scale internal communications to staff and families for the SAU.
- Support leadership with messaging related to school initiatives, achievements, and grant-funded programs.
- Coordinate storytelling and impact narratives highlighting student success and program outcomes.

- Work closely with administrators, teachers, and support staff to gather information for grants and communications.
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and funders.
- Support events, campaigns, and outreach efforts related to grants, fundraising, and school communications.

Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Communications, Education, Public Administration, English, Nonprofit Management, or a related field;
Bachelor degree preferred - Demonstrated experience in grant writing and/or communications, preferably in an educational or nonprofit setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Proficiency with common office and communication tools (e.g., Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, content management systems, social media platforms).
- Experience working in a K–12 school, educational organization, or community organization.
- Experience with federal or competitive grant management.
- Familiarity with education funding sources and compliance requirements.
- Basic knowledge of budgeting and financial reporting related to grants.
- Graphic design or multimedia skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe tools).
- Detail-oriented with strong project management abilities.
- Collaborative and relationship-driven approach.
- Ability to translate complex information into clear, accessible messaging.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
