Position: CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR

Position Overview

The Residential Construction Estimator is responsible for accurately calculating the material, labor, and equipment costs required to complete residential construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of residential building methods, materials, and local labor rates, and will play a critical role in the bidding process and project profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed, accurate, and timely cost estimates for new construction, remodels, additions, and repair projects based on blueprints, specifications, and site visits.
  • Interpret architectural drawings and project specifications to perform quantity take-offs for all construction components (e.g., framing, finishes, mechanical, electrical, plumbing).
  • Solicit, review, and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and scope coverage.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of historical cost data, vendor quotes, and finalized estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers, sales teams, and clients to discuss estimate details, identify potential value engineering opportunities, and address scope changes.
  • Utilize construction estimating software and Microsoft Excel to produce organized and professional bid packages.
Working Hours

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Skills and Experience
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in residential construction estimating or a related role.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret complex residential construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Planswift) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and permitting processes.
  • Familiarity with project management principles.
