Assistant Project Manager – High Voltage

William Charles Electric, a Mas Tec company, is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the successful execution of high voltage electrical construction projects. This role partners closely with project teams to manage project documentation, ensure compliance with contract requirements, and support QA/QC processes across multiple active jobs. The Assistant Project Manager also collaborates with site superintendents to optimize the use of labor, equipment, and subcontractors, driving efficiency and high-quality project delivery within the electrical construction environment.

& Travel

Location & Travel: You can live in any city or state in the United States. This is a traveling position encompassing work sites in the Midwest. Must be capable of up to 75% travel (e.g. 3 weeks or 15 days per month) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities.

Travel will be necessary to conduct the duties of this job, and the employee must have the ability to drive and have proper licensing. We offer designated per diem in addition to base pay to support and help you cover living expenses during the travel rotation. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare scheduling of subcontractors on site
  • Receive and check quality of materials
  • Complete QA/QC checklists
  • Submit material approvals (submittals)
  • Respond to RFIs (general questions)
  • Prepare official documents for the project, route and finalize
  • Prepare project reports as needed
  • Maintain backup documentation
  • Close out final quantities
  • Propose and negotiate extra work
  • Manage special projects within the Project Management function as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned by the Project Management Department
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Preferred). A combination of education & experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 2 to 4 years of Medium/High Voltage substation and transmission line construction industry experience/knowledge of construction techniques, estimating and construction management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the Company's Zero Injury principles.
  • Experience with Project Management systems, such as Procore, Build2

    Win, MS Project and/or P6 and HCSS.
  • Strong analytical skills. Comfortable with Microsoft processing tools including MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to read and understand contracts.
  • Detail oriented, good organization skills.
  • Ability to communicate well with others, both written and orally.
  • Functional knowledge of job cost accounting.
  • Understanding of CPM scheduling.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
