Construction Project Manager
The Construction Project Manager oversees facilities-related construction projects that support the Site Master Plan and facility upgrades. This role leads and coordinates project activities across Site Services, Information Systems, Telecommunications, consulting firms, outside contractors, and internal customer groups to deliver capital projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and lead all construction project activities involving Site Services, Information Systems, Telecommunications, consulting firms, outside contractors, and internal customer groups.
- Engage internal and external resources early in project development to identify potential project issues and risks and develop effective solutions.
- Collect and analyze pertinent information to define project tasks, scope, and resource requirements for each job.
- Prepare and submit project funding requests that accurately reflect project scope, cost, and resource needs.
- Implement approved projects and monitor progress, making changes as needed to achieve the desired project results in terms of cost, quality, and schedule.
- Provide project management services, including space planning and relocation support based on developed space plans.
- Collaborate closely with the Construction Engineer and Project Superintendent to determine project schedules and manpower allocation.
- Oversee construction activities, including change orders and estimations, to ensure alignment with project goals and contractual obligations.
- Follow up on completed projects to identify any problems, resolve issues, and implement corrective actions or improvements.
- Support the engineering, design, and construction function in coordinating capital and expense renovation and move projects.
- Manage contractors effectively, including scheduling, performance oversight, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Review and interpret construction and design documents to guide project execution and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Maintain quality management practices throughout the project lifecycle to meet or exceed established standards.
- Minimum of 5 years of construction project management experience.
- Strong construction management skills, including oversight of field activities and coordination of multiple stakeholders.
- Experience managing change orders and project estimations.
- Proficiency in scheduling and timeline management for construction projects.
- Demonstrated ability to manage contractors and external vendors effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret design and construction drawings accurately.
- Experience applying quality management principles in construction projects.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills to manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineering, design, construction, and customer groups.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in engineering or civil structures is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of space planning and relocation services.
- Familiarity with capital expenditure processes and project funding requests.
- Ability to identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including information systems and telecommunications.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address issues during and after project completion.
The role operates in a dynamic construction and facilities environment, involving coordination between on-site operations, office-based planning, and collaboration with engineering, design, and technical teams. You will work closely with site services, information systems, telecommunications, consulting firms, and outside contractors, using tools such as Globe/SAP project systems and standard construction management practices. The position requires regular interaction with active construction areas, project meetings, and stakeholder consultations, with a focus on safety, quality, and efficient project delivery.
