3D Tech Artist

This position reports into our office in Champaign, IL. Local candidates preferred, but hybrid/remote arrangements may be considered.

Typical pay for this position is $70,000-$90,000. The final offer will be based on the unique experience and qualifications of the selected candidate.

• Create visually realistic art assets for simulation games using mainstream 3D modeling tools. Tools may include 3D Studio Max, Maya, Blender, ZBrush, the Substance toolchain, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
• Asset types may include: RC Airplanes, RC Helicopters, Drones, photorealistic flying sites, 3D-rendered flying sites, and scenery objects.
• Asset optimization using a high‑to‑low poly baking UV mapping pipeline.
• Develop art and rendering technology for your assets: setting up animation/articulation and creating shaders.
• Work with developers to connect art to software.
• Evaluate the work of fellow artists and provide constructive feedback.
• Test software fixes and features when appropriate.
• Work with QA and Production to ensure that assets are ready for release.

Required:

• High level of proficiency with 3D Studio Max, Maya, or Blender.
• 5+ years of experience creating video game art assets.

Preferred:

• Experience creating assets for Unreal Engine 5.
• Familiarity or proficiency with model aviation.
