This position upholds Promise Healthcare's mission to provide the highest level of quality care by performing reception, chair‑side assisting, inventory, and record duties. Under the general direction and supervision of the Dentist, the assistant prepares patients for dental examination, assists in patient care within the appropriate scope of practice, and serves an ethnically diverse patient population.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assists the dentist and hygienists in chair‑side procedures routinely performed in a general and pediatric dental practice.
  • Responsible for the preparation and setting up of instruments, materials, and equipment necessary for each procedure.
  • Responsible for the sterilization of instruments and the cleaning and routine maintenance of equipment and work areas.
  • Sometimes schedules patients and accurately records information in patient records, acting as backup support to the dental patient services representative.
  • Exhibits positive leadership skills, actively striving to improve the patient and staff experience, and demonstrates strong communication skills, including willingness to grow in motivational interviewing.
  • Assists in processing encounters.
  • Identifies related medical and or social problems.
  • Assists in maintaining inventory of supplies and materials as well as thorough documentation of inventory.
  • Assists with the training of new Dental Assistants.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Excellent interpersonal and administrative management experience.
  • Must have working knowledge of the operations and administration of an FQHC dental clinic, including patient care protocols, quality control regulations, policies, procedures, billing and insurance, inventory control, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, and organizational skills to relate effectively with the dental department and other health center staff.
  • Must acquire nitrous certification within the first 6‑9 months of employment.
Education / Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma, Associate, or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous dental experience desired, but not required.

Proposed salary range: $35,360 to $41,080
