Assistant Director of Integrative Biology Merit Program
School of Integrative Biology College of Liberal Arts & Sciences
Job Summary:
The Assistant Director will manage the administration, recruitment, training, advising, and evaluation of the School of Integrative Biology's (IB) Merit Workshop Program.
- Manage authorizations and enrollments for all IB Merit discussion sections each semester.
- Identify and recruit students for the Merit Program from each incoming freshman class.
- Provide ongoing instructional support, supervision, mentoring, and professional development to all IB Merit Teaching Assistants each semester.
- Evaluate the performance of all IB Merit Teaching Assistants each semester and provide award nominations.
- Maintain relationships with advisors, faculty, and administrators across the multiple colleges/departments whose students are served by the Merit Workshop.
- Maintain and update website with information for current and prospective students as well as other educators interested in the program.
- Collect and analyze grade performance data of Merit students compared to non-Merit students each academic year.
- Collect and analyze feedback from Merit students each semester about their satisfaction with and experiences in the program.
- Provide career counseling to students enrolled in the Merit Program.
- Master's degree in Biology, Teaching of Science Education, or related natural sciences or engineering discipline.
- Experience with advising students in academic or non-academic settings.
- Experience working with underrepresented students.
- Ph.D. in Biology, Teaching of Science Education, or related natural sciences or engineering discipline.
- Experience in teaching Biology courses at various levels.
- Experience in education administration.
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience with program evaluation to assess effectiveness and impact on participants.
This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis.
The expected start date is as soon as possible after the deadline.
The budgeted salary range for the position is $62,000 to $72,000.
