- The salary is based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Champaign Federation of Teachers, with a higher rate for positions designated as "hard to fill." The full salary schedule and hard-to-fill list are available on the district website. Experienced teachers receive unlimited experience credit for service outside the district. New teachers may request up to $2,000 as a salary advance for relocation or other needs.
100% of a teacher's contributions to TRS are paid by the Board of Education. The Board also pays 100% of employee-only health, dental, and term life insurance. Vision insurance has a minimal employee cost. Teachers have many opportunities to earn significant additional compensation (stipends, differentials, extra duty pay, etc.) during the regular school year and in the summer. - The district offers an additional $1,500 annual stipend to teachers with a national board certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
- Individuals hired into a 1.0 FTE position in the CFT bargaining unit after October 1, 2023 are eligible for a $1,500 Sign‑On Bonus. Details can be found on the Human Resources page of the website.

- Champaign Unit 4 Schools serves over 10,000 PreK‑Young Adult students and includes 18 facilities: twelve elementary schools, three middle schools, two high schools, one early childhood facility, and the Novak Academy.
