Bioprocessing Adjunct Faculty – Industry Engagement and Curriculum Development
Position is an on‑campus, full‑time, 12‑month appointment based in Champaign, Illinois with a salary range of $1352.00 - $1525.00 per Equated Contact Hour (ECH) commensurate with qualifications and experience.

- Lead curriculum development efforts for bioprocessing education programs aligned to workforce needs.
- Participate in industry advisory group DACUM processes to identify job competencies and translate them into curriculum.
- Collaborate with instructional designers and faculty to develop courses, certificates, and/or AAS degree programs for biomanufacturing process technicians.
- Contribute to development of related programs (e.g., Lab Technician pathways).
- Prepare and submit curriculum proposals to the college curriculum committee.
- Develop course content and materials, ensuring readiness for delivery within the learning management system.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Marketing, Career & Community Engagement) to develop promotional materials and program presence.
- Support outreach initiatives including presentations to internal and external audiences.
- Develop hands‑on and experiential recruitment tools (e.g., career cart activities) to increase student awareness of bioprocessing careers.
- Participate in workforce and project meetings, including advisory councils and cross‑functional teams.
- Provide classroom instruction aligned with established course outlines and college philosophy and objective standards.
- Develop and distribute course syllabi, including learning objectives, evaluation criteria, and expectations.
- Advise and mentor students to support academic and career success.
- Maintain regular office hours to ensure availability for student consultation; provide assistance to students in a timely manner.
- Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate academic records in accordance with institutional deadlines and policies.
- Perform professional duties in accordance with college policies and procedures.
- Participate in required meetings, reporting, and grant‑related documentation (e.g., time and effort reporting).
- Maintain professional credentials and stay current with industry trends and technological advancements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Faculty Chair and Dean.
- Bachelor’s degree in biology or a closely related field to bioprocessing (e.g., chemical engineering, etc.).
- Minimum of 2,000 hours of work experience in bioprocessing or closely related manufacturing environment.
- Ability to learn the Parkland information system and new programs as technology changes.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across academic, industry, and administrative partners.
- Maintains professional credentials required to teach in area of discipline.
- Prospective new hires will successfully complete a post‑offer, pre‑employment criminal background check with fingerprinting. The background check review includes, but is not limited to, exclusionary offenses per the Illinois School Code and Title IV of the Higher Education Act.
- In an effort to comply with SURS return‑to‑work restrictions for employers (40 ILCS 5/15‑139.5), candidates for employment at Parkland College must either not be a SURS annuitant or must be willing to suspend his/her SURS annuity upon employment. This applies to all SURS annuitants except those receiving their annuity under either the Self‑Managed Plan (SMP) or by lump sum payment.
