Position: Teacher of the Visually Impaired (Itinerant) - 1.0 FTE

Teacher of the Visually Impaired (Itinerant) – 1.0 FTE

Full-time.

Location:

Mellon Building – Special Education, Champaign, IL.

Qualifications
  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Blind or Visually Impaired Endorsements.
  • Valid Teaching Certification license.
  • Valid BCBA certification.
  • Experience in teaching special education.
Compensation
  • Salary determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Champaign Federation of Teachers (includes a different level for hard‑to‑fill positions).
  • Full salary schedule and hard‑to‑fill list available on the district website.
  • Experienced teachers receive unlimited experience credit for service outside the district.
  • New teachers may request up to $2,000 as a salary advance for relocation expenses.
  • 100% of a teacher's contributions to TRS are paid by the Board of Education.
  • Board pays 100% of employee‑only health, dental, and term life insurance; minimal employee cost for vision insurance.
  • Opportunities for additional compensation (stipends, differentials, extra duty pay, etc.) during the regular school year and in summer.
  • Additional $1,500 annual stipend for teachers who hold a national board certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
  • Individuals hired into a 1.0 FTE position in the CFT bargaining unit after Oct 1, 2023 are eligible for a $1,500 sign‑on bonus.
Important Notes
  • Travel between locations is required.
  • The district is willing to consider candidates who can begin work immediately as well as those who can begin next school year.
  • If a candidate is hired to begin immediately, continuing employment next year is highly possible, but not guaranteed. Please contact Human Resources for more information.
