Job Goal

The Job Coach will provide direct pre-vocational and instructional/technical assistance to students in the SASED Transition and high school programs.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • Flexible work schedule required
  • School Bus Permit to drive SASED Vans (SASED will provide support)
  • Prior work experience required
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide support and supervision during work‑related programming, such as STEP or other work programs.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all matters pertaining to students and personnel.
  • Maintain professional relationships with all businesses and act as liaison for SASED for all job sites.
  • Model and direct appropriate work site behavior, dress, and interactions with employers, other employees, and customers.
  • Adapt work/homework under the direction of the teacher/supervisor to support classroom and work objectives.
  • Administer surveys, assessments, etc. to assess student progress toward work goals.
  • Monitor, escort, and assist individual students to ensure a safe and positive learning and working environment.
  • Assist with STEP data collection, input, and management requirements.
  • Evaluate, with the Vocational Coordinator or Program Administrator, educational support professionals on job sites working with students.
  • Participate in student team meetings, as necessary.
  • Direct student workers with daily functions and work‑related experiences.
  • Assist students with individualized personal care and hygiene needs, such as toileting, diaper changes, feeding, and brushing teeth.
  • Supervise during community and school work environments to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Operate assistive technology and related equipment, such as prone standers, walkers, OT and PT devices.
  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Programs for students with varying functional levels.
  • Maintain a work schedule that reflects employer needs.
  • Manage student behavior using behavior management strategies, including escorting and token economy systems, under the direction of the vocational coordinator.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of students' needs across educational, medical, physical, sensory, speech/language, social/emotional, recreational, and vocational areas, as established by a multidisciplinary team.
  • Transport and supervise students during loading and unloading of buses/vans for daily transport to and from job sites.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and parents to communicate timely information and support an efficient learning environment.
  • Maintain an uninterrupted learning environment when substitutes are present.
