Job Details

Mercer University’s Stetson-Hatcher School of Business is searching for a Director of Career Development and Employer Engagement. This position could be based on the Macon campus or Atlanta campus.

Responsibilities

The Director of Career Development and Employer Engagement provides strategic leadership for all career development, employer relations, and experiential learning initiatives within the Stetson-Hatcher School of Business. This position is responsible for advancing a unified, cross-campus career development model aligned with the School’s mission to equip students with exceptional education, leadership skills, and relevant real-world business experiences that deliver value from the first day of employment onward.

The Director oversees career-related curriculum integration, employer partnerships, student coaching and programming, outcomes reporting, and staff development across the Macon and Atlanta campuses. With an emphasis on consistency, accountability, and measurable outcomes, the Director serves as the central leader ensuring that business students receive high-quality, equitable career preparation regardless of location or modality.

The Director of Career Development and Employer Engagement is the senior leader responsible for overseeing strategic career development initiatives for students and alumni in the School of Business. The Director supervises the Associate Director and provides leadership in employer engagement, curriculum integration, community partnerships, and student outcomes. A primary emphasis is placed on teaching oversight for embedded career development courses (BUS 202, BUS 302, BUS 305), strengthening corporate relationships, and aligning programming with industry needs.

Qualifications

A master’s degree in business management or a related field, and four years of related experience, which can include counseling students and/or student services experience, are required. Candidates must become proficient in MS Office and Career Services software, as well as possess the ability to use communication and virtual collaboration tools (e.g. MS Teams, Zoom, Webex, Google Meet, etc.).

  • Exceptional organizational and project management abilities with a proven capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong commitment to delivering high-quality service to a diverse population of students and alumni, with cultural competence and sensitivity.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for administrative coordination, reporting, and professional correspondence.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and work collaboratively with students, alumni, colleagues, and external stakeholders, including employers.
  • Advanced presentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to both internal and external audiences.
  • Solid background in advising, counseling, consulting, guidance, or teaching, with the ability to adapt approaches to individual needs and goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain strong, professional relationships across a range of constituencies.
  • Capacity to effectively manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, timeliness, and attention to detail.
  • Willingness, ability, and flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, and to travel for events, conferences, and professional development as required.
  • High level of discretion and sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information.
