High School Percussion Coach

Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator's License (preferred)
- Background and experience in percussion, drumline, marching band, or related student performance activities
- Ability to teach percussion technique, musicianship, timing, and ensemble performance
- Experience working with high school students (preferred)
- Possess good human relations and organizational skills
Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead drumline rehearsals, sectionals, performances, and competition preparation in coordination with the Band Director
- Teach safe and appropriate percussion technique and establish expectations for student preparation, attendance, conduct, and equipment care
- Supervise students during rehearsals, performances, travel, and competitions and comply with District safety and student-accountability procedures
- Assist with percussion music, staging, equipment inventory, setup, storage, transportation, and maintenance planning
- Collaborate with the Band Director, other program staff, families, volunteers, and building administration
Compensation:
This is a Differential position. The differential pay scale can be found in the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Champaign Federation of Teachers, which is available on our website. Coaches with 5+ years of experience are compensated at a higher rate than those with more limited experience. Employment as a coach is on an at-will basis.
