We're developing the next generation of leaders. The Credit Analyst is the first position in Hickory Point Bank & Trust's Commercial Banking Officer Development Program, a comprehensive multi-year experience where new bankers will learn and apply financial statement analysis, credit underwriting, industry research, loan administration, relationship development, project management, and leadership skills to position them for a successful and rewarding career in commercial banking.

Responsibilities
  • As a Credit Analyst, learn skills to transition into the Commercial Banking Associate (CBA) position, handling commercial banking relationships without designated lending authority. The CBA works with more experienced lenders to serve customers and develop knowledge of loan documentation and credit administration, and collaborates with Cash Management Officers and other divisions to understand bank products and services.
  • Spread financial statements; prepare Extended Ratio, Cash Flow, and Collateral Analyses; prepare quarterly M-Track monitoring reports; prepare credit approval documents; assist with special projects and research.
  • After approximately 1-2 years, understand how to assess and structure loan requests, know the bank’s commercial loan and related policies, and transition to a CBA with duties including: managing and administering a portfolio of loans; handling loan requests and applications; preliminary analyses of loan requests and recommending actions; developing new business; maintaining credit quality; monitoring financial information and covenants; participating in community activities;

    assisting other bankers with loan closings and administration.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or related business field; ability to multi-task and prioritize; general understanding of financial statements; attention to detail and deadlines; strong work ethic; excellent verbal and written communication; service orientation.
Training And Experience

Prior experience is not required for the Credit Analyst; however, a bachelor’s degree in finance or related field is required.

Physical Demands, Working Conditions And Hours

The physical demands are representative of those that must be met to perform essential functions, which may include lifting up to 25 pounds. Regular sight, hearing, and speech are required; extended sitting.

Must be available to work when the banking center is open, including after-hours events, as scheduled. A normal work week is 40-45 hours.

Who Should Apply
  • Students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a business major (economics, finance, or accounting preferred) with graduation dates May or December 2026. Master's degree candidates are welcome but must have one year or less of prior professional experience.
