Overview

Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information for the Mercy Health System. Full‑time, salaried position (Monday–Friday, remote).

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate Medicare and other governmental payment policies, compliance, and reporting for all hospital and clinic entities.
  • Analyze internal and external data and research Medicare and other payer rules and regulations.
  • Manage and provide data support for the annual Medicare/Medicaid/Blue Cross cost report submission to ensure accurate, timely reimbursements.
  • Work with external consultants and governmental auditors to provide supporting information.
  • Work with outside consultants to complete accurate tax related documents.
  • Operate effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Collaborate with departmental staff and managers to prepare budgets for multiple entities and respond to budget questions and complex projects.
  • Prepare pro‑forma financial analyses of new or altered services within the system.
  • Analyze complex financial processes and recommend opportunities to improve system financial performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting (four‑year college or university) or a related master’s degree.
  • Five to ten years of experience, with at least four years in health‑care finance.
  • High level of Medicare experience, including preparation of Medicare/Medicaid cost reports, patient revenue accounting and budgeting, Medicare/Medicaid regulations, and analysis, modeling, and reporting of other third‑party payers.

  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Excellent accuracy in work.
  • Strong interpretive and analytical skills.
Physical Demands

Regular standing, walking, and use of hands. Occasional lifting or moving of up to 25 pounds. Requires close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Level of Supervision

Independent judgment is required, with few alternatives due to standard practices and procedures.

Pay Range

$76,061.05 – $
