UNIVERSAL BANKER – CHAMPAIGN, IL

First State Bank and Trust is currently seeking a full-time Universal Banker to join our team. As a Universal Banker, you'll be an essential part of our team. Universal Bankers serve as both teller and personal banker to meet the branch office needs. Our Universal Bankers are the face of First State Bank and Trust and the communities that we serve.

This position is responsible for the accurate processing of customer transactions as well as opening new accounts and helping customers choose the right financial products to meet their unique needs.

Primary shift:
Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with rotating Saturdays. Employees must be available to occasionally work until 5:00 PM to support branch staffing needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct routine transactions within established guidelines, including cashing checks, accepting deposits, processing withdrawals, and handling loan payments.
  • Accurately count, verify, and handle large volumes of cash during daily transactions and balancing procedures, ensuring compliance with internal controls and security protocols.
  • Open new accounts, helping customers choose the right financial products to meet their unique needs.
  • Provide great customer service, including greeting customers warmly and professionally, actively listening to customer needs and addressing inquiries promptly, and handling customer complaints or concerns with empathy and efficiency.
  • Educate customers about our products and services, including savings accounts, loans, and credit cards. Cross‑sell relevant banking products based on customer profiles.
  • Safeguard customers' personal information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while representing the bank.
  • Remain alert to potential fraud and take necessary precautions.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in banking or customer service preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
