Job Description
COLLEGE OF VETERINARY MEDICINE — Tenure-Track or Clinical Track Open Rank Professor in Veterinary Neurology. The Neurology and Neurosurgery Service at the College of Veterinary Medicine is looking for a third neurology faculty member to continue to develop and grow the service. The Neurology & Neurosurgery Service is committed to outstanding service, teaching, and research. Percent time dedicated to teaching, scholarly activities, and clinical service will be based on the successful candidate's career goals, academic proclivities, and the needs of the department.
The service provides clinical service and teaching of professional students, residents, and interns, with a large and varied caseload in the small animal clinic. The hospital has state-of-the-art diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical resources and strong collaborations with anesthesia, critical care, pathology, and other departments. Opportunities to collaborate with clinical and basic science researchers are widely available. The University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital has a modern facility with extensive imaging and electrodiagnostic capabilities."
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent clinical service in veterinary neurology/neurosurgery.
- Participate in clinical and didactic teaching of professional students, residents, and interns.
- Engage in scholarly activities, collaboration with other groups, and development of research, service, and/or teaching programs aligned with academic goals and department needs.
Required Qualifications
- DVM degree or equivalent and completion or current completion of a Neurology residency program.
- Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) or the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ECVIM), or credentials acceptable by ACVIM/ECVIM for board eligibility.
Salary and Benefits
Salary: budgeted range $145,000 to $180,000. Benefits package is competitive; starting date as soon as possible after the close date.
