Harm Reduction Peer
The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) seeks a part-time (20 hours per week) Harm Reduction Peer Counselor for the Teen and Adult Services Division. The selected candidate will act as a liaison between people who use drugs (PWUD) and health/social services, focusing on harm reduction. The candidate will build trusting relationships with PWUD and reduce barriers to care by providing harm reduction-centered outreach, navigation, advocacy, and follow-up.
The candidate must be able to support client-defined goals while promoting dignity, safety, and health. Must have interpersonal skills to build trust.
Responsibilities include:
- Serve as a liaison when working in outreach programs assisting with project goals and objectives as directed by supervisor.
- Assist with logistical needs in meeting goals and objectives of the assigned program.
* Perform other duties as required and assigned by Division Director to meet program goals.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Must self-identify as having lived experience with substance use
The expected hourly pay is $16.71. Full hourly pay for Class 1 Harm Reduction Peer is $16.71 - $22.56 for a 20-hour week.
