Athletic Trainer; ATC - Sports Medicine

Overview

Assess, evaluate, and treat athletes and/or patients of all ages in the clinical and event coverage setting. Serve as a role model in the delivery of professional services and as a clinical resource for staff and students.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training or in a related field.
• Licensure/Certification:
  • Licensed Athletic Trainer within 6 months (eligible if licensed in another state or passed the exam) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
  • Certified Athletic Trainer – Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days – American Heart Association (AHA).

• Assess patient compliance with and response to prescribed plans of care, including therapeutic outcomes.
• Assess patient's learning needs regarding normal functioning, diagnosis, treatment, self‑management, and access to health‑care resources.
• Deliver physical care to athletes following medical direction, monitoring response and results during care.
• Design and implement individualized plans of care.
• Document evaluations and plans of care per department policy, including goals, treatment modifications, and patient responses.
• Evaluate and assess referred athletes.
• Implement effective treatment methods to achieve treatment goals.
• Instruct athletes and/or family members in performance of treatment, activities, or home care.
• Provide athletic training services to contracted high schools, club events, and/or junior colleges as assigned.
• Provide emergency care, including CPR.
• Take responsibility for daily event coverage and clinical provision of care.
• Understand EMR system operation for clinical patient care.
• Maintain and update knowledge of new AT practices and current literature to sustain and improve athlete care.

The compensation range for this position is $22.98 per hour – $38.38 per hour. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and compensation model.
