- Provide clinical support in the Champaign Endoscopy Center
- Assist with patient care activities under RN direction
- Obtain and transport specimens according to hospital policy
- Assist physicians with instruments, equipment, procedures, and treatments
- Set up and tear down procedure rooms between cases
- Reprocess endoscopes and accessory instruments
- Clean and sterilize instruments according to unit and hospital policy and nursing society guidelines
- Apply aseptic principles and maintain separation of clean and dirty areas
- Document duties in nursing unit and patient records
- Clean and stock exam and procedure rooms
- Assist with inventory and restocking of supplies
- Serve as a technical equipment resource within the department
- Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology or Certificate of Completion in Surgical Technology
- Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) within 18 months — Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days — American Heart Association (AHA)
- 1+ years of work experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Hand/eye coordination
- Knowledge of infection control principles
- Ability to independently scrub basic surgical procedures
- Ability to problem solve in relation to the procedure being performed
- Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology
- Basic knowledge of electricity, chemistry, computers, robotics, and lasers
- Knowledge and practice of patient care concepts and perioperative teamwork
- Knowledge and practice of sterile technique during surgical procedures
Demonstrates expertise in clinical support within an endoscopy center, including proficiency in sterile techniques, patient care, and equipment handling. Holds relevant certifications and possesses a solid foundation in anatomy, physiology, and infection control principles.
