Cloud9 Cannabis in Champaign, IL is hiring an Assistant General Manager to join our store leadership team. The Assistant General Manager will support operations and people management, focusing on managing all team members, scheduling, inventory, customer relationships, and other on‑site duties. This role reports directly to the General Manager and will coach, reinforce, and continuously provide feedback to the retail team.
This individual must be motivated, positive, and eager to lead our dispensary through startup operations.
1. Team and Leadership Functions
- Assist with hiring, managing, and cross‑training staff in all relevant task areas.
- Be a cultural leader for all team members to hold as an example for the organization.
- Protect store assets, facilities, and team members by ensuring all staff adhere to operational guidelines and standards, comply with all safety and security policies, and maintain store equipment.
- Meet revenue goals with holistic management practices, staff training, and customer relations.
- Work with the Director of Retail and Dispensary Store Leader to create deals and promotions, set competitive pricing, and sell in‑house brands.
- Lead oversight of inventory management processes: intake, reconciliation, and all relevant compliance functions.
- Create a culture of compliance through staff training, self‑education, and relationship‑building with State Inspectors.
- Help manage all in‑store cash flow: till setting, cash handling, and cash depositing.
- Assist in managing all supply ordering for the dispensary: paper products, office supplies, replacement supplies, etc.
- Be the front line of maintenance for the facility, actively communicating any facility needs with the leadership team.
- Create a culture of customer service that promotes loyalty and retention.
- Effectively train and lead staff on all company processes, products, and service philosophy to give customers the best dispensary experience.
- Build relationships with customers by being active on the sales floor, communicating deals and promotions, and working staff to improve customer relations no matter the circumstance.
- Ensure customer feedback and concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
- Exhibit a very high sense of urgency, be well organized, possess a great attitude, be a team player, and build strong working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.

- Bachelor's degree in a business‑related field, operations, hospitality, management, or project management preferred; equivalent experience without a degree is also considered.
- Knowledge of the cannabis industry as it relates to cash handling, product knowledge, inventory process knowledge, compliance, and audits.
- Minimum 2–5 years experience in a managerial position in a retail environment leading multiple locations.
- Proficiency using Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite, Treez, METRC, etc.
- 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass all required background checks as it pertains to Illinois cannabis laws.
- Compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and market standards: $50k+ annual + annual performance bonus opportunities.
