Job Description
The Associate Director of Oncology Training is responsible for leading a team that develops and delivers the sales franchise curriculum for Abb Vie U.S. customer-facing teams. This role directs the annual training strategy aligned with brand marketing strategic imperatives, collaborates across functions (Training, Medical/Clinical experts, Marketing, Sales Management, Regulatory, Legal, Market Access, other Abb Vie Groups, and external vendor partners), manages multiple budgets, develops direct reports, and fosters a high-performing culture.
- Represent the Field Training leadership team.
- Build and lead a team of highly effective trainers who develop curriculum that fosters Abb Vie Leadership Attributes and advances selling capabilities.
- Leverage artificial intelligence, adaptive learning, and experiential training approaches.
- Implement a proactive approach to measuring learning impact, using data to inform curriculum updates and future learning initiatives.
- Influence line management at all levels to design learning strategies that support business objectives for assigned sales franchises.
- Drive excellence with a focus on performance results, fostering accountability within self, direct reports, the Field Training department, commercial stakeholders, nurse ambassadors, and training participants.
- Lead the training strategy process—including analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation—to continuously improve the capabilities of the U.S. Sales Organization.
- Coach and develop the franchise training team for current and future commercial leadership roles.
- Build effective relationships with senior commercial management, cross-functional partners, Marketing, T&D, and other groups to drive performance through consistent development and delivery of commercial training.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 8–15 years of experience in pharmaceutical/healthcare sales and sales management with a record of developing and leading effective sales teams.
- Experience in Heme Onc and/or Multiple Myeloma strongly preferred.
- Experience building launch training journeys and curriculum strongly preferred.
- Technical degree or a degree in business or related field acceptable if combined with relevant training and sales experience.
- Commercial or medical training experience required.
- Knowledge of instructional design systems or extensive experience in training, development, and curriculum design.
- Strategic thinking and business planning skills necessary to diagnose needs and influence commercial training and organizational development strategies.
- Project management experience managing cross-functional teams and/or external partners through large projects or initiatives.
- The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and may ultimately be higher or lower than the posted range.
