Job Overview

Silgan Closures, a Fortune 500 leader in sustainable packaging, is hiring a Forklift / Machine Operator at our Champaign, IL manufacturing facility. In this warehouse and production role you will operate forklifts, support material handling, inventory control, and run packaging equipment to ensure efficient movement and storage of finished goods.

• Pay: $21.13 – $23.25 per hour
• Shift: Night Shift – 12‑hour rotating 2‑2‑3 schedule (5:45pm – 6:00am with every other weekend off)
• Differential: $1.00 per hour for night shift

• Operate forklifts and powered industrial trucks to transport materials throughout the warehouse and production facility.
• Perform material handling, pallet movement, and inventory control tasks.
• Stage, load, and store finished goods in designated warehouse locations.
• Operate packaging equipment including stretch‑wrap machines, labelers, and carton sealers.
• Label pallets and verify carton labels for shipping accuracy and inventory tracking.
• Run inventory reports and resolve discrepancies.
• Monitor and operate automated systems, such as AGVs and robotic palletizers.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues, jams, and mechanical problems; perform minor repairs and adjustments.
• Inspect product quality and ensure compliance with manufacturing and packaging standards.
• Support preventive maintenance activities on production equipment.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse and production work areas.
• Follow GMP, HACCP, and all safety compliance standards.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6‑12 months of experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or forklift operation.
• Experience as a Material Handler, Warehouse Operator, Production Associate, or Machine Operator preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to operate production equipment and material‑handling systems.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced manufacturing or warehouse environment.
