Key Responsibilities

Our CNC Turn Operators are responsible for independently operating and performing routine setups on CNC turning centers (lathes) to manufacture precision cylindrical components that meet customer specifications. This position requires experience with CNC lathes, blueprint interpretation, precision measurement, and routine machine adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.

  • Independently operate one or more CNC turning centers (lathes).
  • Perform routine machine setups, including loading programs, changing tooling, setting tool offsets, and verifying first-piece inspections.
  • Load raw material into chucks, collets, or bar feeders.
  • Monitor cutting conditions and make approved wear offset adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy.
  • Inspect turned parts using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, thread gauges, depth gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions.
  • Identify and replace worn inserts and cutting tools as needed.
  • Troubleshoot routine machining issues such as chatter, tool wear, dimensional variation, and surface finish concerns.
  • Perform in-process quality inspections and complete required production documentation.
  • Maintain coolant levels, chip removal, and general machine cleanliness.
  • Follow all safety and quality requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2–5 years of experience operating CNC turning centers (lathes).
  • Experience with Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, Mazak, Doosan, or similar CNC lathe controls.
  • Experience with bar feeders, hydraulic chucks, collets, and live tooling preferred.
  • Strong understanding of turning operations including OD, , facing, grooving, threading, boring, drilling, and cutoff operations.
  • Ability to change tooling and adjust offsets independently.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand machining tolerances and GD&T.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with multi-axis turning centers.
  • Experience with live-tool lathes.
  • Experience with sub-span machines.
  • Experience with Swiss-style turning centers (if applicable).
  • Familiarity with tool life management and insert optimization.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for the duration of a 10-hour shift.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop, and grasp.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery and measuring equipment.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.
  • Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Working Conditions
  • Manufacturing production environment.
  • Regular exposure to machinery, metal materials, and industrial noise.
  • Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required to meet production demands.

Pay: starting at $26-31/hour
