CNC Mill Machinist – Champaign, IL
- Full-time, 1st shift (6 am to 4:30 pm M-Th) or 2nd shift (4 pm to 2:30 am M-Th)
- Salary: $27-30/hour, plus 10% shift differential for 2nd shift

Key ResponsibilitiesOur CNC Operators are responsible for independently operating CNC machines and performing routine setups to produce precision components that meet customer specifications. This position requires 1 to 5 years of previous CNC manufacturing experience, strong attention to quality, and the ability to troubleshoot routine machining issues while maintaining productivity and safety standards.
- Independently operate one or more CNC mills, lathes, or other CNC equipment.
- Perform routine machine setups, including loading programs, changing tooling, setting offsets, and verifying first-piece quality.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, engineering drawings, and process documentation.
- Inspect parts using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, and gauges.
- Monitor machine performance and identify opportunities to improve cycle time, quality, and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot routine machining and quality issues and upscale complex problems as needed.
- Complete production documentation accurately.
- Perform basic preventive maintenance and maintain clean, organized workstations using 5S principles.
- Follow all safety, quality, and company policies.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2–5 years of CNC machining or CNC operator experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience performing machine setups and tool changes.
- Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Proficient in using precision measuring equipment.
- Strong understanding of machining tolerances and quality standards.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Reliable attendance and strong teamwork skills.
- Experience with CNC machining and operation (preferably with precision, complex, tight-tolerance components).
- Experience with Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, Okuma, Siemens, or similar CNC controls.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience.
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma exposure.
- Ability to stand and walk for the duration of a 10-hour shift.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop, and grasp.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery and measuring equipment.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Manufacturing production environment.
- Regular exposure to machinery, metal materials, and industrial noise.
- Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required to meet production demands.
