Nurse Manager – Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility (REI) Clinic

Join the University of Chicago Medicine’s Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility (REI) Clinic at our South Loop location in a thought‑driven role as a Nurse Manager. This position oversees day‑to‑day operations, scheduling, planning, organizing, and directing all activities related to patient‑centered care in the unit. Responsibilities also include recruitment and hiring, supervision, purchasing, inventory, facility, safety and equipment management, as well as preparing for inspections such as JCAHO accreditation.

Job Functions
  • Participates in the recruitment and selection of unit staff; identifies recruitment needs and staffing levels.
  • Determines staffing needs in consultation with the physician director and ensures proper scheduling to maintain quality patient care.
  • Assists staff in identifying learning needs, promotes staff participation in professional and institutional activities, and encourages design and attendance of in‑service classes.
  • Assesses patient acuity and plans appropriate assignments for inpatients and outpatients.
  • Evaluates staff performance, completes annual performance evaluations, and provides recommendations for merit increases.
  • Ensures staff attend mandatory educational programs and in‑services per JCAHO regulations.
  • Assists in testing and evaluating new equipment, procedures and programs.
  • Participates in periodic review of sectional activities, needs assessment, development, and prioritization of goals and objectives; assists in review of policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Collaborates with physicians and supervisors regarding patient care and treatment, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care on a daily basis.
  • Conducts regular inspections to ascertain maintenance status of the environment and equipment, and takes required corrective action.
  • Provides orientation and training to staff on physicians’ orders, patient needs, and approved nursing practices.
  • Collaborates with the medical director on quality assurance issues and data collection for staff meetings, research, reports, and evaluation.
  • Promotes patient and personnel safety by complying with institutional and regulatory agency standards; defines and organizes quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assists in providing patient care and obtaining necessary documentation for a variety of research protocols.
  • Participates in budget development and makes recommendations regarding staffing, equipment, and supply issues.
  • Monitors expenditures throughout the year and takes corrective action; promotes cost containment programs.
  • Demonstrates a cost‑conscious attitude toward time and resource usage.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited academic body.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse with a valid, unrestricted Illinois State license.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in a clinical setting.
  • Experience in a nursing leadership role.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in an ambulatory setting.
  • Familiarity with Epic and other UCH Information Systems.

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. Pay ranges are based on a full‑time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and are reflective of current market data, reviewed annually. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications, experience, and organizational considerations.

Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
