Nurse Manager – Inpatient Adult Behavioral Health

The Pavilion Behavioral Health System includes a 110-bed inpatient hospital, a residential treatment center for youth, and a residential addictions treatment program. Outpatient services include partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient services, as well as The Pavilion Foundation School, a private day school serving students with learning disabilities and behavior disorders. Located in Champaign, IL.

Responsibilities
  • Set and display standards for the adult unit in accordance with state and federal regulations and the Illinois Board of Nursing, establishing clinical goals and objectives that reflect the hospital’s plan and encouraging innovative patterns of clinical practice.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing on the development of the unit budget, support approved budget and goals, and ensure maintenance of appropriate staffing reflective of census and patient acuity.
  • Train and develop unit staff to meet the needs of the adult population.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing with performance improvement initiatives for the adult unit.
  • Assist with the development and revision of policies and procedures according to established standards of nursing care.
  • Monitor and improve patient satisfaction scores on the adult unit.
  • Use an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient’s age‑specific needs and provide age‑specific treatment and care.
  • Monitor and improve employee satisfaction scores on the adult unit.
  • Assist Utilization Review Department in monitoring lengths of stay, taking into account clinical presentation, previous response to treatment, available resources, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop positive rapport with the Medical Staff.
  • Participate in committees requested by the Director of Nursing to enhance the quality of patient care.
  • Investigate incidents on the adult unit, submit reports to Administration, Risk Manager and other outside agencies as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to work in an adult behavioral health environment.
  • Demonstrate clear understanding of the importance of patient, visitor and staff safety, monitor general condition of the unit, and notify appropriate personnel regarding problems and risks.
  • Adhere to the standards and commitments of the Hospital and Departmental Service Excellence Action Plan.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to conduct regular, effective staff meetings.
  • Assist the infection control coordinator with the hospital’s infection control plan.

Qualifications
  • Licensed in Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and CPR certification required
  • Prior clinical psychiatric nursing experience and two years managerial experience preferred; demonstrates progressive roles in nursing leadership
  • Strong communication and listening skills; project a positive image and reflect a high degree of professionalism
