OverviewStefanini Group is hiring an EHS Specialist in Champaign, IL. The role provides Environmental, Health, and Safety support for multiple locations including farm, laboratory, manufacturing, seed production, and remote operations. The role ensures EHS programs are implemented and maintained in compliance with applicable local, state/provincial, federal, and internal corporate requirements; drives continuous improvement in EHS performance, regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and audit readiness.
The Regional EHS Generalist partners with site leadership, employees, and regional EHS stakeholders to support operational accountability for EHS and strengthen incident prevention efforts, ensuring effective implementation of the North America EHS management system. The role reports to the Regional EHS Manager and supports leaders and employees across multiple locations through collaboration, technical expertise, and influence without direct authority.
- Provide Environmental, Health, and Safety support for multiple assigned locations (farm, laboratory, manufacturing, seed production, remote operations).
- Help ensure EHS programs are implemented and maintained in compliance with local, state/provincial, federal, and corporate requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement in EHS performance, regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and audit readiness.
- Partner with site leadership and regional EHS stakeholders to support operational accountability for EHS and strengthen incident prevention.
- Support effective implementation of the North America EHS management system across locations.
- Collaborate with leaders and employees across multiple sites to influence safety culture and program execution.
- Travel approximately 50% to provide onsite support; some travel outside the region may be required up to 25% of the total travel.
- Bachelor of Science in engineering, environmental science, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, or related field (preferred).
- Strong EHS regulatory and technical expertise (OSHA, EPA, and applicable state/provincial/local requirements).
- Minimum 5 years of experience supporting EHS programs.
- Experience implementing and periodically reviewing EHS programs; aligning site-based programs with corporate requirements.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analyses; providing EHS training in person and online.
- Experience developing and reviewing SOPs, policies, and other compliance documentation.
- Experience with environmental and safety inspections, audits, and corrective action follow-up; multi-site compliance management.
- Ability to identify, assess, and prioritize EHS risks across multiple locations; self-starter with the ability to work independently and with diverse teams.
- Strong communication skills to interact with various levels of management and staff; ability to influence without direct authority; ability to prioritize multiple projects/sites.
- Experience interacting with community representatives, elected officials, NGOs, and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Experience participating in capital project EHS reviews.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CRSP, or PE are pluses.
