Data Scientist, Research Analyst, Research Assistant/Associate
The Junior Research Integration Specialist will support FTSE Russell’s Research team by facilitating the translation of research insights into practical, real‑world applications. This dynamic role is ideal for someone who combines strong programming expertise with a curiosity for quantitative finance and enjoys bridging the gap between research concepts and implementation. Based in Fort Mill, SC, this position will work closely with both research and technical teams to enhance research capabilities, improve methodologies, and drive innovation.
WhatYou’ll Be Doing
- Support the integration of research methodologies into detailed processes and analytical frameworks.
- Build and enhance technical tools and automated workflows that improve research efficiency and capability.
- Translate research concepts and factor methodologies into structured, repeatable processes.
- Collaborate on research projects that require both quantitative analysis and technical implementation.
- Support the development of research infrastructure including data pipelines, analytical tools, and research platforms.
- Analyze research workflows and find opportunities for automation and process improvement.
- Develop and maintain documentation for research methodologies, factor calculations, and analytical processes.
- Assist in the development of research tools that support factor analysis, backtesting, and performance attribution.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer between research teams and support consistent application of research methodologies.
- Contribute to research validation processes and quality assurance frameworks.
- Python programming experience with curiosity about applying technology to research problems.
- Some background or shown curiosity about finance, quantitative methods, or investment research.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and eagerness to learn technical implementation concepts.
- Curiosity about automation, data analysis, and research methodology development.
- Good interpersonal skills for collaborating across research and technical teams.
- Meticulous approach with dedication to quality and continuous learning.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a technical or quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, Economics).
- Interest in quantitative finance, factor investing, or financial market research.
- Knowledge of analytical frameworks, statistical analysis, or quantitative investment strategies.
- Interest in machine learning, AI applications, or sophisticated analytics in finance.
LSEG is committed to offering competitive compensation and benefits. The anticipated base salary for this position is $108,800 - $181,300. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location, city and state. In addition to the base salary, this role is eligible for the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP/ "bonus plan"), with target AIP rates commensurate with role level.
