The responsibilities of the Cashier include scanning the customer's selections, ensuring that the prices and quantities are accurate, accepting payment, issuing receipts, answering inquiries, and providing helpful information to customers about products, promotions, and item location. Cashiers also respond to complaints with genuine concern, learn about our Producers and Makers, and assist the Customer Service Manager in creating a positive store atmosphere for customers and a positive working environment for Associates while fostering the Niemann Harvest Market culture.

Essential duties and responsibilities include delivering superior guest service and ensuring absolute customer satisfaction, learning and using the three E's:
Engagement, Educate, Empowerment, learning and using the GUEST program, greeting customers, being sincere, using a smile, projecting a friendly manner, engaging the customer in casual conversation, showing respect toward customers' purchases, thanking them, maintaining customer satisfaction by providing solutions to concerns, performing product scanning and processing of customer's orders in an accurate, efficient, and prompt manner, ensuring proper handling of all forms of tender and coupons, packaging customer purchases in an organized fashion, being able to recognize and differentiate all types of produce, and being knowledgeable to share about the special varieties we carry.

Additionally, cashiers keep the workstation and surrounding area clean, organized, and well stocked, perform fixed activities as assigned by supervisor, follow all store and department policies and procedures, follow safety policies and procedures, and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

There is no required education or experience.

Language skills include the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The ability to write routine reports and correspondence is also required. The ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and associates is necessary.

Mathematical skills include basic math concepts (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication).

This position has no required certifications, license, or registrations.

Recommended equipment includes slip-resistant shoes with closed toe and heel, ladder, stepladder, uniform per store policy.

Physical demands include standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, communicating with associates and customers, lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds, frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds, occasionally sitting, climbing, balancing, overhead lifting, crawling, smelling, and lifting and/or moving up to 75 pounds.

Vision includes close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and ability to distinguish colors.

Work environment includes occasionally risk of electrical shock, outdoor weather conditions from exterior doors, and moderate noise level.

Pay range depends on industry experience. Min wage up to $18/hour (IL Locations Only). Starting pay will be based on experience, internal equity, and scope of responsibility.
