Store Manager

General

Position Summary:

Store Managers are the heart and soul of the Lids brand. They foster passion for sporting and fashion goods by providing exceptional customer service, leading store performance, and creating an inclusive environment for team members.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities People & Training Development
  • Manage store hiring strategy, including planning needs, recruitment, projected turnover, and leaves of absence.
  • Assist in onboarding new team members.
  • Create a fun and productive environment that supports company objectives.
  • Establish a respectful and inclusive team environment.
  • Update team member information: time off requests, shift swaps, availability, timecards, qualifications, and other records.
  • Lead and monitor ongoing training strategy for non‑Keyholders and all staff.
  • Address employee concerns and partner with internal support when necessary.
  • Drive engagement through recognition, check‑ins, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with other stores through discussion boards and regional chat platforms.
Customer Experience
  • Lead and execute the Lids selling strategy to achieve KPIs and sales targets.
  • Resolve customer feedback and escalations, ensuring a “make it right” approach.
  • Direct in‑store team members to deliver optimal customer service.
  • Provide customers with opportunities to join membership programs through staff education.
Operations
  • Ensure compliance with scheduling and payroll policies and budgets.
  • Create and manage schedules based on team qualifications, availability, and performance.
  • Maintain operational continuity during disruptions.
  • Execute company‑level promotions and initiatives.
  • Follow the Policies & Procedures Manual to maintain safety.
  • Maintain store technology and equipment with daily audits.
  • Handle store facilities, supplies, and service requests.
  • Manage cash, including till opening/closing and bank drops.
  • Prepare store for inventory audits and assist in their execution.
Product & Inventory Management
  • Oversee store product strategy for receiving, processing, merchandising, and purchasing.
  • Organize the backroom to maximize efficiency.
  • Enforce vendor regulations on custom embroidery, purchase limits, and release dates.
  • Execute weekly markdowns and markups.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy and sell‑through.
  • Manage transfers and ship‑backs per company standards.
  • Execute visual merchandising and product presentation strategies.
  • Maintain store look and feel during operating hours.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Ability to produce sales results while minimizing loss.
  • Proven supervisory and training delivery skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Independent work capability with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel overnight for training or business meetings.
  • Availability for varying days and hours with excellent attendance.
  • Proven managerial skills.
