Zone Manager
A major American‑owned distributor seeks a highly capable Zone Manager to lead a high‑performing sales team across the Greater Chicago territory. The company sells a full line of industrial products—including adhesives, abrasives, tapes, labeling, and safety solutions—manufactured by leading global brands. This role combines leadership with direct account responsibility in a true player/coach model. No overnight travel required.
The Zone Manager will oversee a team of 5–8 outside and inside sales representatives
, driving growth across industrial, electronic, medical, and aerospace markets. This leader will inherit an established territory with strong existing business while also being responsible for expanding key accounts and developing new opportunities.
- Base Compensation: $120,000–$130,000 (commensurate with experience), including commissions supported by inherited business
- Car Allowance: Approximately $750–$850 per month
- Year One Earnings: Typically 10–20% above base through territory growth and team overrides
- Top Zone Managers: Earn $200,000+
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of 5–8 sales professionals
- Manage individual accounts while driving team performance
- Oversee sales activities across industrial, electronic, medical, and aerospace markets
- Support reps in new business development and account expansion
- Ensure products are effectively positioned and specified within customer applications
- 3+ years of outside sales management experience
- Experience selling to manufacturers
- Strong background in new business development and account expansion
- Experience in industrial distribution
- Experience selling adhesives, tapes, sealants, labels, abrasives, or engineered solutions
- Exposure to VMI, vending, or programmatic supply chain solutions
- Experience getting products specified
