Regional Sales Executive – Air & Ocean Freight

Compensation: Up to $120,000 base salary + uncapped commission + full benefits

With continued investment and expansion across the United States, the organization is seeking a high-performing Regional Sales Executive to drive growth across the Midwest region and strengthen its position within the international freight forwarding market.

Position Overview

Based in Chicago, the Regional Sales Executive will be responsible for generating new business opportunities and developing strategic customer relationships across Air and Ocean freight services.

This role is focused on identifying, pursuing, and securing new revenue streams while collaborating with global operations, trade lane, and pricing teams to deliver tailored supply chain solutions. The successful candidate will be a commercially driven hunter with a proven ability to win new business and grow market share within the freight forwarding industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, target, and secure new business opportunities across international Air and Ocean freight services
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to penetrate key Midwest markets and industry sectors
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline through prospecting, networking, referrals, industry events, and market mapping
  • Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through proposal, negotiation, and implementation
  • Collaborate with pricing, operations, customs, and trade lane teams to create competitive logistics solutions
  • Conduct customer presentations, site visits, and commercial negotiations with logistics, procurement, and executive stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts, and pipeline reporting
  • Develop long-term customer partnerships while identifying opportunities for additional service offerings
  • Stay informed on global trade developments, market trends, competitor activity, and transportation solutions
  • Work closely with international colleagues and overseas offices to support customer growth initiatives
Requirements
  • 3–7+ years of freight forwarding sales experience focused on Air Freight and/or Ocean Freight
  • Proven track record of generating new business and achieving revenue growth targets
  • Strong understanding of international freight forwarding, supply chain solutions, and global trade
  • Knowledge of Air Freight, Ocean Freight, Customs Brokerage, and value-added logistics services preferred
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and comfortable operating in a hunter-focused sales environment
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities simultaneously
  • Experience utilizing CRM platforms and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Existing network of shippers, importers, exporters, or supply chain decision-makers highly desirable
