Position Summary

Responsible for the complete and satisfactory installation of residential and light commercial HVAC equipment and accessories. Communicates with customers, promotes products, trains other installers, and assists the Field Supervisor or General Manager with audits, supervision, and planning. Works under the direction of the Field Supervisor or General Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install HVAC equipment and accessories in customer homes under supervisor direction.
  • Install heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment and accessories per company requirements and manufacturer specifications; perform limited diagnostics as needed.
  • Design, fabricate, and install various ducts and duct fittings as required.
  • Perform system start-ups and component start-ups.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and sustain high customer satisfaction.
  • Promote products and services to customers; report sales leads to Sales and Service Coordinator.
  • Deliver and remove equipment needed for installation work.
  • Maintain company property, vehicles, and tools; complete accurate paperwork and collect customer payment.
  • Represent the company professionally, honestly, and ethically.
  • Keep installation vehicle clean and neat.
  • Follow standard procedures; stock vehicle, return defective parts, replenish stock as needed; complete material requisition forms as required.
  • Assist with site supervision, planning, and estimating.
  • Assist with quality audits on selected installations.
  • Train other installers in technical skills and company procedures as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Participate in safety initiatives, teams, or committees.
  • Report injuries or incidents immediately.
  • Provide input on developing safety initiatives and plans.
  • Do not perform acts that may endanger safety or well-being of others.
  • Work in compliance with applicable legislative requirements.

Skills and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED with additional training and 5+ years of HVAC experience; HVAC technical training certification required.
  • All valid licensing or certification required for the geographic work area.
  • EPA and safety certifications required.
  • Proficiency in fundamentals of heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and accessories.
  • Advanced installation skills for heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment and accessories.
  • Proficiency in layout and installation requirements of duct work and duct fittings.
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and ability to operate necessary tools and equipment.
  • Proficient in reading wiring diagrams and troubleshooting problems.
  • Advanced skills in startup, airflow balancing, belt and pulley alignment.
  • Advanced skills installing electronic air cleaners, refrigeration systems, hot water systems, steam boilers, humidifiers.
  • Ability to calculate heat gain and loss on buildings using approved methods.
