Lead Carpenter
The Lead Carpenter is a highly skilled, hands‑on craftsperson responsible for executing and overseeing carpentry work on residential and light commercial projects. This role combines expert craftsmanship with leadership, ensuring that work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards. The ideal candidate is a problem‑solver who takes pride in their work, communicates well, and can guide laborers or small crews while maintaining a clean, organized jobsite.
Responsibilities- Perform high‑quality framing, trim, cabinetry, drywall, flooring, and general carpentry.
- Execute detailed finish work with precision and craftsmanship.
- Complete punch lists, small tasks, and warranty work efficiently.
- Install doors, windows, hardware, and built‑ins.
- Lead and mentor laborers or junior carpenters.
- Coordinate daily tasks with the Project Manager or Superintendent.
- Ensure work is completed according to plans, specs, and scopes of work.
- Maintain a professional, productive jobsite environment.
- Communicate with subcontractors, inspectors, and vendors as needed.
- Ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available and organized.
- Assist with layout, measurements, and project setup.
- Identify issues early and propose solutions.
- Inspect work for accuracy, craftsmanship, and compliance.
- Correct deficiencies promptly.
- Maintain company standards for finish quality and durability.
- Enforce safety protocols and OSHA requirements.
- Conduct daily safety checks.
- Maintain a clean, hazard‑free jobsite.
- Report incidents or hazards immediately.
- Provide daily updates to the PM/Superintendent.
- Track material usage and communicate shortages.
- Document completed work and progress.
- Communicate professionally with clients when needed.
Working hours: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Skills- Experience leading small crews or mentoring laborers.
- Knowledge of local building codes and inspection processes.
- Ability to operate small equipment (lifts, skid steers, etc.).
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Previous Lead Carpenter experience helpful but not necessary.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience1–4 years of carpentry experience.
Qualifications- 5+ years of carpentry experience (framing + finish preferred).
- Strong understanding of residential/light commercial construction.
- Ability to read blueprints, scopes, and specifications.
- Skilled with tools, equipment, and construction techniques.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
