Overview
The Field Performance Technician is responsible for the management, scheduling, and completion of all service and warranty related work. This position requires working independently and as a member of the Performance O&M team while interacting closely with customers, Branch Manager, Senior Electrical Foreman, Construction Supervisor, and the centralized scheduling Field Service Team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Troubleshoot and resolve solar electric warranty and service issues that arise with modules, inverters, monitoring, and balance of system components.
- Investigate and mitigate any reported roof leaks, completing thorough documentation including a roof leak checklist, photos, and written observations.
- Communicate with the Construction Supervisor and Engineering Team members to resolve any redline issues.
- Receive, update, and complete Field Service Dispatches (FSDs) using the Service Dashboard in Salesforce.
- Ensure timely communication and completion of service and warranty work with an emphasis on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Develop and refine processes and gain technical skills related to service work for residential solar photovoltaic systems, following department policy and preparing for advanced technical skills as FPT

- High School diploma is required.
- 1–3 years of previous field construction or solar experience required.
- PV design or PV electrical experience is preferred.
- Must maintain a clean driving record with the ability to pass a driving background check.
- Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
- Valid state or local Electrical Journeyman certification or license preferred.
- Depending on state requirements, an Electrical Journeyman certification or license may be required.
- Knowledge of the NEC and applicable codes and standards.

- Strong computer skills.
- Electrical/PV Installation Knowledge:
Working knowledge of current NEC codes, ability to interpret single line drawings and PV systems from roof to meter, knowledge of electrical principles as related to solar interconnection/tie‑in and code, and understanding of basic construction principles. - Safety:
Adheres to company safety policies and procedures, identifies and reports safety hazards, and encourages others to work safely. - Customer Service:
Ability to establish rapport, build relationships and loyalty with external and internal customers and coworkers, and remain tactful when communicating. - Results Driven:
Proven ability to meet deadlines and key metrics, works independently, as a team player, and drives results in a fast‑paced, team‑based environment. Willing to assist teammates and build strong relationships to achieve company and department goals. - Problem Solving:
Solid logical decision‑making and troubleshooting skills, ability to problem‑solve in a timely and effective manner, exercises good judgment, takes ownership of issues or questions, escalates problems to the appropriate persons, and follows up accordingly with the customer.
- Transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces requiring frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balance.
- Climb ladders and work in outdoor weather conditions including excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environment, and humidity.
- Use fine motor skills for hand functions such as manipulation, grasping, and pinching.
- Work within the safe range of equipment such as ladders, fall protection harnesses, and other personal protective equipment.
- Maintain balance on roofs and other areas of height, work in the sun and possibly low light conditions, walk on rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without damage, distinguish colors such as red, black, yellow, white, and green, work in confined spaces such as attics,…
