Family Advocate (Full-Time, Exempt)
The Champaign County Children's Advocacy Center is accepting applications for a Family Advocate position, available immediately. The successful applicant for this position will assist and support child victims and their families during and after investigations into allegations of abuse by conducting forensic interviews of children during the investigative process, connecting child victims and their families to community support services, working with law enforcement, social services, schools, and health and welfare agencies, and educating community agencies, schools and organizations on child abuse awareness and prevention.
The successful applicant must be interested and able to work with individuals during high stress and highly emotional cases, particularly crimes of violence and crimes involving child victims.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with a major in social work, criminal justice, or a related field is required. Highly organized. Proficient in the use of technology. Strong communication skills, written and verbal. Graduate level degree in a relevant field or experience in the criminal justice system or social services. Experience with children and familiarity with early childhood trauma. Training and certification in forensic interviewing, willing to train if necessary.
Proficient in foreign languages.
Compensation:
Salary Range: $40,953.32-$61,431.47, commensurate with experience and depending on qualifications. Champaign County offers a competitive benefits package, including paid time off, health insurance, and employer contributions to a defined-benefit retirement plan.
