Position: Para educator Special Education - 2026-27

Positions

2 positions available:
Para educator – Special Education 2026‑27 (Full‑time, 184 days/6.5 hrs/day).

Responsibilities
  • Manage classroom behavior (redirecting, calming, or removing disruptive students).
  • Monitor and record student progress in instructional areas (academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills, etc.).
  • Manage physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students in wheelchairs, etc.).
  • Assist in instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room, or center‑based settings.
  • Perform all Para educator duties, including supervising students, maintaining attendance records, and following the school's behavioral management program.
  • Assist with data functions, materials handling, and use of technology/computers.
  • Work cooperatively with students, staff, and families.
  • Adhere to all safety and health protocols; physically perform tasks that may involve lifting a minimum of 40 pounds and handling self‑care procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Personal Care Assistant certification completed within 30 days of start date.
  • Completed 60 semester / 90 quarter credits, or obtained an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution, or passed the Para educator or Para Pro exam (documentation required).
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and record‑keeping skills.
  • Ability/desire to work with technology and computers.
  • Ability to supervise students and take direction.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance and complete assigned days.
Rate of Pay
  • $20.00 – $23.95 per hour for DOQ with K‑12 experience.
  • $21.15 – $25.10 per hour for DOQ with K‑12 experience and an AA/AAS degree or 60 semester/90 quarter credits.
  • $22.00 – $25.95 per hour for DOQ with K‑12 experience and a BA degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Special Ed Paras serving center‑based students or classrooms 50 % or more of their time receive an additional $0.50 per hour.
  • Special Ed Paras at Two Rivers Transition Program or River Trail Learning Center receive an additional $1.00 per hour.
