Applications Engineer
The Applications Engineer will support the Applications Engineering group, which functions as the Research & Development team. The role involves front‑end development, testing materials with lasers, and determining capabilities, processing speeds, and quality of laser processing. The engineer will also document results and present reports to customers, demonstrating processes to clients and their teams.
Responsibilities- Test materials and analyze their reactions with laser technology.
- Develop system configurations for production applications.
- Process sample parts for clients and document findings in detailed reports.
- Verify and demonstrate processes to clients and engineering teams.
- Travel domestically and internationally to collaborate with engineering teams.
- Mechanical engineering expertise.
- Understanding of metallurgy and fixturing processes.
- Experience in process engineering and CAM.
- Proficiency in MATLAB programming and CNC programming.
- Laser drilling, cutting, and welding knowledge.
- 3‑5 years of experience in processing/manufacturing engineering.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, or Material Science.
- Fixture design experience and/or CAD/CAM expertise.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage and prioritize tasks effectively.
The Applications Engineer will join a team of four engineers and a manager, working in a business casual office/shop setting. While traveling, appropriate dress codes will be provided for customer visits. The position may require working beyond regular hours, especially during travel. The team values an outgoing personality, fostering a jovial atmosphere. Training and development opportunities, including potential travel to Italy, enhance the work experience.
