Position OverviewThis is a hands‑on Audit Manager role designed for an experienced CPA who is ready to fully own audit engagements and client relationships. The Audit Manager will manage audits from planning through issuance, serve as the primary client contact, and lead and mentor audit staff. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a small firm environment and enjoys responsibility, flexibility, and decision‑making authority.
Key Responsibilities- Own audit engagements end‑to‑end with minimal layers of review
- Plan, manage, and review financial statement audits
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned audit clients
- Supervise, mentor, and develop audit staff and seniors
- Review work papers, financial statements, and audit documentation
- Identify and resolve technical accounting and auditing issues
- Manage engagement budgets, timelines, and staffing
- Be hands‑on with complex audit areas when necessary
- Assist with improving audit processes and firm workflows
- 5+ years of public accounting audit experience
- Experience supervising and reviewing staff work
- Strong technical knowledge of auditing standards and financial reporting
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Experience with 401(k) audits, employee benefit plan audits, or ERISA audits
- Experience working in a small or mid‑sized CPA firm
- Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines independently
- Self‑starter who takes full ownership of responsibilities
