- Serve as the payroll systems subject matter expert and lead/support payroll system implementations, integrations, upgrades, and enhancements.
- Ensure timely and accurate weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing for employees in multiple US states and Canada.
- Act as the primary contact for payroll tax matters, including agency notices, tax registrations, state and local tax compliance, unemployment insurance accounts, and regulatory inquiries.
- Monitor federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations and identify process-improvement opportunities.
- Lead annual payroll year-end planning, reconciliation, reporting, and completion of year-end activities.
- Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts, bank statements, and financial transactions; research and resolve discrepancies.
- Collaborate with Finance, Human Resources, IT, Audit, and external vendors to maintain accurate, SOX-compliant, efficient payroll operations.
- Analyze payroll data and processes to identify trends, improve controls, and enhance payroll performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field; equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- 4+ years of progressive experience with responsibility for payroll processing and compliance.
- Experience with payroll and timekeeping systems, including system analysis, integrations, implementations, or enhancements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- High degree of attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
- Preferred:
Experience with ADP payroll and timekeeping systems. - Preferred:
Experience supporting unionized work forces. - Preferred:
Experience processing shift differentials, complex pay rules, or manufacturing payroll environments.
Demonstrates expertise in payroll systems management, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while optimizing payroll processes. Proficient in payroll data analysis and collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency.
