General Manager, Staffing – Toptal
Join Toptal and lead the launch and growth of our new Staffing business line, focusing on on‑site traditional staffing under the brand.
Job Summary
As the single key owner of the Staffing business, you will develop strategy, drive revenue growth, and manage P&L, working closely with senior leadership to ensure alignment with Toptal’s broader goals.
Responsibilities
Your primary responsibility is to ensure success measured by revenue growth, pipeline health, and gross margin. You will optimize supply and demand, balance top‑line growth with operational efficiency, and lead cross‑functional initiatives across Marketing, Talent Operations, Legal, Finance, and Sales. You will analyze markets, identify high‑potential opportunities, build and test new client offerings, establish analytics, and iterate strategies to achieve product‑market fit.
Critical for success is your ability to engage clients as a trusted partner and collaborate internally to deliver solutions on demand.
Qualifications and Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s in Engineering, Business or related field preferred. - 7+ years of sales leadership in staffing or recruiting, with a strong understanding of business operations.
- 3+ years of P&L ownership in a business‑building role.
- Experience driving growth through deep industry or client relationships at the director or C‑level.
- Entrepreneurial experience launching a new business or product from scratch (technology or hyper‑growth companies preferred).
- Management consulting or investment banking experience preferred.
- Proven leadership delivering results in fast‑paced, multi‑function environments.
- Excellent relationship development and communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Experience with marketing technology, CRMs, automation platforms.
- Strong analytical skills and commercial acumen.
- Deep understanding of P&L and financial metrics.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and capable of mentoring others.
- Adaptable, comfortable with changing priorities.
