Under close supervision, provides a safe environment for children to play during Parent meetings and other District community events. In the Preschool Program this position will be responsible for assisting a classroom teacher in the general supervision and management of children.

This position is guided by the Americans with Disabilities Act and includes the following tasks, knowledge, skills and characteristics. The list below is illustrative.

• Help maintain the health, safety and welfare of all children being cared for
• Assist in keeping classroom and playground areas clean and sanitary
• Prepare materials for classroom activities
• Supervise children during outdoor playtime and nap time
• Supervise and participate in classroom activities
• Distribute snacks
• Assist children with personal hygiene such as bathroom use and hand washing
• Report concerns to appropriate District staff regarding children
• Communicate positively with parents
• Interact with children in a positive manner
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Knowledge of Mandatory CPS Reporting Law
• Knowledge in CPR and First Aid
• Knowledge of District and Department policies and procedures
• Skill in monitoring and assisting children
• Skill in handling difficult situations with parents or guardians
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships

Work is performed in an indoor environment. Requires frequent sitting, standing, bending, repetitive motion, vision to monitor, and may require some lifting.

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Fingerprint and background check on file with Human Resources Department
• Fluency in both Spanish and English (as required by District needs)

Salary Grade: B

Hourly Pay: $16.25
