The Pipe Layer is responsible for laying pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains, performing tasks such as grading trenches or culverts, positioning pipe, and sealing joints. The role utilizes instruments such as lasers, grade rods, and transit levels.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Cut pipes to required lengths
- Connect pipe pieces and seal joints using welding equipment, cement, or glue
- Cover pipes with earth or other materials
- Install or repair sanitary or stormwater sewer structures or pipe systems
- Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing
- Check slopes for conformance to requirements using levels or lasers
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations
- Knowledge of Blue Stake markings
- Meet production goals directed by the site Foreman or Superintendent
- Perform other duties as required and assigned
- Adhere to all DCS Contracting safety policies, procedures, and management instructions
- 1+ year of construction pipe laying or laborer experience
- General knowledge of OSHA standards and requirements
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
- Willingness to learn and accept direction from field supervision
- Team player and willing to help out wherever needed for project success
- Safety‑first mindset; must stop work if something is unsafe
- Reliable transportation and schedule flexibility
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Reliable and dependable
- Physical ability to perform strenuous tasks and manual labor
This is a Safety Sensitive position.
Must be able to drive within a 60+ mile radius from DCS's office to assigned job sites.
