Job SummaryIn this role, you will lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on a project. You will direct craft professional activities and work schedules, coordinate subcontract work activities, and develop the team. Your oversight will ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and site work rules, and perform within specifications, schedules, and budgets.
MajorResponsibilities
- Leadership/Supervision
- Supervises and/or directs craft activities as assigned.
- Schedules work and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
- Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.
- Participates in the development of contract, subcontract, or vendor scopes of work, budgets, contract formation, and negotiations.
- Planning/Productivity
- Determines workforce requirements.
- Coordinates established area operational plans.
- Coordinates activities with other disciplines or areas and clients’ resident representatives, as instructed by construction management.
- Supervises the development of construction drawings and sketches.
- Safety/Quality
- Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved before implementation.
- Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance comply with specifications and remain within schedules and budgets.
- Ensures the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned operations.
- Technical
- Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals to interpret engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
- Oversees engineering solutions with subcontractors, foremen, and craft professionals.
- Prepares testing processes and required test equipment.
- Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8–10 years of relevant experience, or 12–14 years of relevant work experience.
- Knowledge and experience working on a large multi‑discipline construction project.
- Knowledge of construction site layout, office arrangements, parking lots, fencing, break trailers/facilities, laydown area development, delivery logistics, and strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities on large construction projects.
- Experience supervising, administering subcontractors and/or Direct Hire Union workforce.
- Computer literate (Office 365). Demonstrated field leadership abilities, setting expectations, and following through to completion.
- Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct them, requiring extensive walking around a construction site, climbing ladders and scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working at heights, and working in confined spaces.
- Some lifting may be required, none over 50 lbs.
- Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress).
- Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for assigned tasks (e.g., harness, life vest, flash protection).
