The Academic Advisement Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of academic advising operations. This role oversees advisor staffing, scheduling, training, and performance management while ensuring consistent, accurate advising aligned with institutional policies and degree requirements. The Manager serves as a key resource for advisors, faculty, and administrators, and plays a critical role in maintaining efficient workflows, meeting peak enrollment demands, and supporting student success initiatives.

Essential Functions

30% Leadership & Staff Supervision

* Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, and performance management of academic advising staff, including hiring, staffing, scheduling, onboarding, coaching, and evaluation.

* Foster an inclusive and collaborative team culture that promotes student-centered advising practices and continuous improvement.

* Support advisor success through regular feedback, performance planning, and coaching.

* Collaborate with the Director to support department staffing models, workload distribution, and coverage during peak enrollment periods.

* Serve as the department's primary point of contact for escalated student concerns and complex advising cases, applying institutional policy, professional judgment, and problem-resolution strategies.

* Contribute to and support Student Affairs initiatives and cross-functional programming involving academic advising services, including but not limited to new student orientation, first-year experience, career and transfer fairs, and other student success events.

30% Program Management & Advising Operations

* Oversee daily academic advising operations to ensure consistent, accurate, timely, and student centered advising services aligned with institutional policies and degree requirements

* Implement advising services within a guided pathways framework and in alignment with institutional goals and student success priorities.

* Coordinate the logistical assignment and reassignment of advisor caseloads to ensure equitable distribution and timely student support.

* Administer and oversee advising technologies, case management systems, and reporting tools, including training, implementation, and ongoing system optimization.

* Maintain and update academic advising department website content to ensure accurate, timely, and accessible information for students, faculty, and staff.

* May maintain a limited caseload of advisees to support operational needs, peak enrollment periods, or complex advising situations.

30% Advisor Training & Professional Development

* Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive advisor onboarding and ongoing advisor training and professional development.

* Develop, maintain, and update department standard operating procedures and advisor training materials to ensure consistency and quality in advising practices.

* Evaluate advisor performance using qualitative and quantitative measures, service quality, and adherence to policies and procedures.

* Serve as a subject-matter expert for advisors on academic policies, program requirements, advising best practices, and student success strategies.

* Promote continuous improvement through training, feedback, assessment, and incorporation of best practices in academic advising.

* Design, develop, and deliver presentations, trainings, and workshops for students, faculty, and staff related to academic advising, case management advising, and student success strategies.

10% Compliance & Administrative Responsibilities

* Plan, develop, and manage the department budget in collaboration with the Director of Career & Educational Planning.

* Ensure academic advising services comply with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

* Assist with, track, and report on program review and accreditation activities related to academic advising services.

* Track, manage, and report on federal grants or special funding related to academic advising, as applicable.

* Act on behalf of the Director in their absence, as needed.

* Perform other duties as assigned.
