DEFINITION

The role of the Early Childhood Program Specialist is to build capacity and provide support to ensure that all preschool children receive equitable access to the Early Childhood instructional program. The position is designed to support the consistent implementation of the Arizona Early Childhood standards, instructional quality, compliance, and overall effectiveness of the early learning program. The position serves as a central point of communication, organization, and instructional leadership, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and high-quality environment for students, staff, and families.

REPORTS TO

Director of Early Childhood Programs

TASKS
  • Plans and delivers professional development to teachers, child care staff, paraprofessionals, and parents.
  • Conducts demonstration lessons and provides feedback to teachers, child care staff, and paraprofessionals on the planning, implementation, and delivery of instruction.
  • Develops model lessons that adhere to the Arizona Early Childhood standards.
  • Assists and supports teachers in implementing the Early Childhood curriculum and Quality First standards.
  • Participates in assigned professional development to support initiatives related to the Early Childhood program.
  • Serves as the main liaison between the staff and the early childhood director.
  • Assists in the evaluation of early childhood staff.
  • Assists in the management of weekly childcare billing through Lily Pad.
  • Assists in the implementation of best practices in early childhood education and developmentally appropriate instruction.
  • Assists in the implementation of Arizona Department of Education requirements.
  • Maintains compliance with the Arizona State Child Care Licensing regulations.
  • Participates in the implementation of the Exceptional Education programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with the District.
  • Communicates and collaborates with outside agencies, attend meetings and trainings.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
  • Knowledge of District policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of instructional methodologies and effective research-based strategies in early childhood education.
  • Knowledge and expertise in methods and strategies for early childhood education.
  • Knowledge and experience teaching early childhood education and age-appropriate practices.
  • Knowledge and experience in designing and delivering professional development using adult learning theory.
  • Knowledge of Exceptional Education policies, procedures, and inclusive practices.
  • Strong computer skills, especially in the use of Excel, spreadsheets, and accounting systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, childcare staff, parents, and administrators.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment. Work requires frequent sitting, repetitive motion, and visual monitoring, and may require some lifting.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Education. Early Elementary Certification (K-8) preferred.
  • Childhood endorsement (preferred and or willing to obtain).
  • Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card, First Aid, and CPR.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (oral and written skills).
  • Minimum of three years of successful classroom experience at the elementary or preschool levels.

Salary: PNT 260 Grade E FTE: 1.0 Days in
