Job Goal:
To promote student success, provide preventative services and respond to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school-based counseling program that addresses the academic success and positive personal/social development of students.
Provide comprehensive, data-driven, developmental supports within the academic, personal/social, and career domains that deliver services equitably to all students. Counselors provide direct student services through the use of evidence-based curriculums, individual student planning, and responsive services. They also provide indirect student services on behalf of the student such as referrals for additional assistance, consultation, and collaboration with parents/guardians, teachers, and other professionals and community organizations.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Master's Degree in Education or Related Field
* AZ Counselor Certificate
* AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

Job Functions:
* Maintain and create a safe, equitable, and inclusive space for all students.
* Identify the appropriate process for implementing individual and group counseling services and facilitate sessions to meet the developmental needs of students.
* Provide and support prevention programs, including but not limited to student wellness lessons, conflict resolution, anti-bullying strategies, peer mediation, and character
* Support and facilitate a positive school climate and culture for students, staff, parents/guardians, and other school community members.
* Utilize site data to make informed decisions regarding a comprehensive school counseling program and to determine appropriate supports for the school community.
* Demonstrate and apply knowledge of school counseling protocols by applying appropriate practice and following policy regarding the safety of students.
* Follow district processes regarding mandatory reporting, thoughts of suicide, and self-harm.
* Design and deliver classroom lessons to facilitate the integration of school counseling as a vital component of educating the whole child.
* Assist students to develop the skills needed to achieve academic success, college and career readiness, and social/emotional development.
* Assist administrator with investigating conduct referrals, incident reports and disruptive behavior by supporting the student's emotional needs during these identified incidents.
* Consult and collaborate effectively with school staff and parents/guardians regarding student concerns and needs.
* Serve as a liaison between the school and home for children with special circumstances and/or needs for continuity of care.
* Maintain the confidentiality of student records and student information.
* Implement an effective follow-up process as needed and maintain on-going communication with appropriate collaborators to support the well-being of students.
* Collaborate with staff in assessing and monitoring student progress toward meeting academic and social-emotional goals.
* Develop and coordinate 504 plans for identified students.
* Participate and apply training from professional development and continuing education opportunities to remain updated on best practice.
* Use available technology resources to enhance the school counseling program.
* Attend extracurricular school events to build relationships with students, caregivers, and the community at large.
* Adhere to state laws, district policies and procedures and school counseling ethical standards.
* Coordinate and/or participate in school-wide initiatives, activities and programming related to the development of student well-being.
* Perform all other duties or serve on district and/or site-based committees as assigned by administrator.
